Installing Greymatter
Incase you don't know what Greymatter is it's a blogging system. It makes blogging a lot easier. I've tried b2 and a few other things but Greymatter is probably my favorite.1) Download this and unzip it.
2) In ASCII mode upload the following files to your site:
3) In binary mode upload gm-icon.gif then CHMOD gm.cgi, gm-karma.cgi, gm-upload.cgi and gm-comments.cgi to 755. CHMOD everything else to 666.
4) Make a new folder or directory called "archives" and CHMOD it to 777.
5) Next you'll need to login to greymatter. The URL should be something like http://www.YOURSITE.com/gm.cgi. The username is Alice and the password is wonderland. Be sure the A in Alice is in caps or it won't allow you to login. Username and password are case sensitive.
6) We need to get rid of the default user now so go to "Edit Authors" and fill out "Register A New Author" with your name and details. Be sure to give yourself full access. Press "Create New Author" and after you have done this delete the old Alice username.
7) You'll be asked to log back in so this time log in with your username and password that you just registered.
8) Go to "Configuration" and scroll down until you see a button that says "Diagnostics And Repair". You want to click this button and then click "Perform Diagnostics And Repair". Everything should work fine so click continue. If not, then you've done something wrong so check to see that you uploaded all of the files and that your CHMODing is right.
9) Go back to "Configuration" and check and make sure that all of the paths are correct. Most likely you won't have to change any of that. Then you can scroll down and edit your settings such as whether or not you'll allow karma voting and commenting and all of that nice stuff.
10) After you've changed everything to your liking and saved it go back to the main menu and click "Add A New Entry" to blog. Pretty simple, eh? ;)
Hope this helped!

I'm Skylar, or, if you prefer, Sky. I'm a junior in high school. Music is my obsession. I enjoy singing and take voice lessons, as well as perform in the pit (mallets, xylo, marimba) in the marching band, and play triples in the steel drum band. I'm outgoing, and easy to get along with and you usually won't find me without a smile on my face.
